Call For Submissions: AJCAI24 PhD Forum

We are delighted to invite submissions from PhD students in the field of Artificial Intelligence for the PhD Forum at the upcoming Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AJCAI 2024; https://ajcai2024.org/). The AJCAI24 PhD Forum is an integral part of the conference and will run in parallel with main conference activities. The Forum will be held in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday 26th November 2024. It is an in-person event. Participants will showcase their research through both lightning talks and poster presentations, engage in discussions with senior AI researchers and peers, explore opportunities for potential collaborations, establish friendships, and benefit from mentorship on both research and career development.

What to Expect

  • Showcase Research: Present your research projects, ideas, and/or results.
    • Lightning Talks: Selected students will present their research in 3-minute slots.
    • Poster Presentation: Students will display their research through posters.
  • Feedback and Mentoring: Receive valuable feedback from experienced researchers, professionals, and peers to refine your work and guide your research/career journey.
  • Invited Talks: Senior AI researchers will talk about AI research, career opportunities and trajectories in academia, industry, and beyond.
  • Success Story Sharing: Recent PhD graduates (or senior students) will share their stories of success in completion or research/publication.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow PhD students, researchers, mentors, and potential collaborators.
  • Best Poster Award: All posters presented at the PhD Forum will be eligible for the AJCAI24 Best Poster Award, which will be announced during the forum.
  • Support: There is no registration fee to attend the PhD Forum.

  • Open to all current PhD students.

  • Submission Deadline: 11:59 PM (AEST) Oct 20, 2024
  • Notification of Acceptance: Oct 31 2024
  • AJCAI24 PhD Forum Date: Nov 26, 2024

Submission Guideline

Submissions should consist of:

  • A (maximum) four-page (extended) abstract of your research.
    • Format: in PDF, up to 4 pages in length (excluding references, if any) and formatted using Springer's manuscript submission guidelines
    • Authorship: The submitting PhD student must be the first author, but the submission can include co-authors. The submission should be non-anonymous. No changes to the list of authors will be permitted after submission.
    • Content: Submissions may cover any part of your PhD research/thesis, such as a published paper or ongoing research, as well as any preliminary or planned future work. Accepted submissions will not appear in the conference proceedings or be published in any archival form, allowing students to share both published and unpublished work without restrictions.
  • A letter of support from your supervisor or one of your supervisors.
    • In PDF. The use of any form of typesetting is acceptable.
